TikTok crosses 2 billion downloads:India accounts for over 30%

As people across the world have been confined to the comfort of their homes, the popularity of TikTok has take over to skies. The short video sharing application has crosses over 2 billion downloads across Google Play Store and The App Store.

Th play store has contributed 75.5% (1.5 billion) of the total downloads, while the app store has recorded 24.5% (495.2 million) of the total downloads reported by the owned platform. Notably, TikTok registered over 50% increase in the number of downloads from the past two weeks. On April 13th TikTok created a milestone by accounting to 1 billion downloads from play store alone.

According to the sensor tower report, India has been the biggest driver of TikTok installs, generating 611 million to date or 30.3% of the total. India was not in the list of revenue generators for TikTok even though the company has started taking over the country in last 6-8 months. According to the latest data, the company has earned about Rs 23 to 25 crores in the revenue in the half ending December 2019 from India. In India, TikTok had launched TikTok ads to advertise on the ecosystem of the country. Besides TikTok, the solution offers invitations from Helo and Vigo videos as well.
