What can be done to make engineering education more equitable in India??

In order to make Engineering Education more egalitarian, we need to achieve more prominent equal opportunities in India, which will rely on improving the quality of education and upgrading both the quantity and quality of career knowledge in rural areas, especially in the most remote areas. Furthermore, the emphasis should be on reducing study costs.
These are some of the ways in which the goal can be accomplished:
1. Career development sessions in schools:
Schools can organize career development sessions by the professional to reduce the barrier of career related information due to lack of resources and role models. A certain type of program that brings to a good engineering college professionals who can build awareness in the school-going youth about the process & requirements one needs to join.

2. Implementation of new policies and scholarships:
Government and educational institutes should introduce new policies and scholarships for Indian engineering students, and these programs should touch as far as students. These policies should be enforced with the utmost care so that children from disadvantaged social and economic backgrounds with talent and learning skill can be reflected in engineering institutes and are not robbed of their abilities.

3. Improving the standard of the rural education:
Those children of the poorest or least mobile families who are unable to move to cities, enhancing the quality of education in rural areas, are the only realistic chance they have of advancing.Problems of English speaking & understanding will also be addressed with improved quality of education and will thus be an added benefit.All in all, non-native English engineering students should strive hard to improve their English skills, which might help make both their school life and career more successful and enjoyable.This will help in considerably counteracting the situation.

4. Equalizing the learning opportunities:
Science and engineering are developing in their societal significance, but getting to high-quality science and engineering instruction remains largely determined by the socioeconomic course of an individual, racial or ethnic gathering, gender, dialect foundation, assignment of incapacity, or national starting. The government should increase the number of ‘English’ medium schools and put in them well-qualified teachers so that the students in their college education won’t face many more difficulties.

5. Reducing the cost of study:
As we can see from the statistics, most of the students who go to Tier-I schools come from urban areas. To minimize this policy, schemes such as free online training for high school students should be opted for by experienced faculty for all people, so that there would be no substantial gap in the standard of education between urban and rural people.

Positive factors may be supportive family members, mentors or financial support, while obstacles could be financial restrictions, social responsibilities or discrimination. Such factors do not impact the actions of an person equally (e.g., prejudice could be felt more strongly as a negative factor than having financial assistance perceived as positive) and may be interrelated (e.g., mentors may provide learning opportunities as well as encouragement to pursue financial assistance)
